“In our approach, we believe that a learning environment for children should be filled with wonder and exploration.”
– Loris Malaguzzi
St Nicholas Greek – Australian Preschool and Canberra Childcare Centre was established in 1994.
Nestled in the heart of Yarralumla, our doors are open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday. Our spaces are designed to encourage exploration, wonder and affinity of the natural environment, and the social construction of knowledge.
We are licensed for 40 children aged 1 – 5 years.
In the realm of early education, the 'care' component is an essential pillar of our approach. Chef Niko provides nutritious meals, individual routines are followed, and nappy and toileting needs are attentively met to ensure every child's well-being.
Our Rooms
Amalthea Room
Named after the nurturing figure Amalthea. This room is designed for our youngest children, ages 6 months to 2 years. Inspired by Amalthea’s gentle, caring nature, this space supports a warm and secure environment where infants can explore, grow, and thrive at their own pace. The Amalthea Room embraces the essence of care, comfort, and early development.
Artemis Room
Named after the goddess Artemis. This room is designed for children 1 to 3 years. The goddess Artemis reflects values of independence and protection, nurturing young children's growth.
Apollo Room
Named after the god Apollo. This room is designed for children 3 to 5 years. The god Apollo reflects values of creativity through music, arts, poetry, and visual expression.
Here at St Nicks, we aim to encourage children’s natural intelligence and curiosity of their environment.
Our educational compass draws on children’s knowledge, curiosities, and learning opportunities to form learning concepts. Our learning experiences and spaces are creatively designed with these concepts in mind to enhance children’s learning.
